I was sent to DRA in 2009. When I got there I quickly learned that I had two choices. I could fight the program and be there for up to 2 years, or do what they said and get out in 10 months. It is a horrible place there. Anything you do there without asking will result in either being restrained, or additional time. This includes talking, spitting, and even using the bathroom when it is not a so called bathroom break. No one likes it there. You can’t tell your parents the truth without fear of punishment by the program.Parents reading this, PLEASE listen, there are other solutions to helping your children than sending them to this horrible place. Once you sign that contract and pull out that dirt road, I promise you will not know the truth from your suffering child until the day they are finally home, and it may even take longer than that. My family still has no idea about some of the things I witnessed there do to the fear I still have from that facility. Please don’t make the mistake of sending your child there.
