Diamond Ranch Academy Survivor Survey – Ed L.

What age were you and what year(s) were you enrolled in Diamond Ranch Academy? – 13-14 years old year of 2014-15

Did you experience the Homeless/ O&A/ RFI process? – Yes many times

How long were you in the Homeless/ O&A/ RFI process? – Matters on what I did, usually for me, a minimum of 1 day in RFI and at most 3 weeks.

What activities were commonly required during the Homeless/ O&A/ RFI process? – Sitting in a white room all day, getting restrained (wrists being bent) harassment and picking weeds in the 110 degree weather. No talking, no fun.

What kind of meals were you served throughout the Homeless/ O&A/ RFI process? – Sometimes none, depended on behavior. But we always behaved well because they under fed us.

Were you ever restrained? Why? – Yes for talking back to staff, trying to open metal door, and punching a fat kid in his nose.

Did you witness restraint? Why was that person restrained? – Yes, sometimes no reason, in RFI if you talked back you would get restrained.

In your opinion, what was the purpose of the Homeless/ O&A/ RFI process? – To put you in misery.

What were you told by staff was the purpose of the Homeless/ O&A/ RFI process? – It’s just going to be a little time, you can read books.

After you finished the Homeless/ O&A/ RFI process, were you ever dropped back down to “homeless” or sent to RFI? – Yes

Was RFI different than Homeless/ O&A? How? – Yes, we did not have OA and homeless at that time.

Were you strip searched? How many times? – Every time I came back from spending time with my parents, whenever I looked suspicious, they also strip searched rooms during school everyday.

In your opinion, would you consider this process to be therapeutic? HELL NO. After my 10 months just went back to smoking weed, and taking pills. Made it worse, I have paranoia over getting transferred.

Did you experience any medical issues while participating in the Homeless/ O&A/ RFI process? – Yes many colds, headaches, even had a heart problem.

Were those medical issues properly addressed? – Fuck no. The isolation supervisor, Shane Johnson just didn’t pay attention and kept on talking to his wife.

If you could recommend any changes to DRA’s Homeless/ O&A/ RFI process, what would it be? – I would recommend DRA to fuck right off. Mormon sons of bitches.
